How to Get a Transcript of a JW.org Video
Turn a video from JW.org into a timestamped transcript you can read, search and download as TXT, SRT or VTT, in the language of the link you share. Here is which link to paste and what happens next.
JW.org publishes subtitles with its videos, but not as text you can read on its own. Paste a video's share link and SubGrab gives you the transcript, with timestamps, in the language you shared it in.
A link shared from the Spanish site gives a Spanish transcript, from the English site an English one — the language code is part of the link JW.org hands you.
On the video's page choose Share and copy the link — it looks like jw.org/finder?…&wtlocale=E&lank=pub-…. The page that link opens (…?item=pub-…&appLanguage=E) works too. The language code in the link is the language of your transcript.
The subtitles JW.org publishes for that video and language, with their timestamps — in seconds. A video with none in that language is offered as an AI transcription, priced before anything is charged.
Download TXT, SRT, or VTT, search it, quote it with the time it was said, or generate an AI summary.
Follow a talk line by line, go back to a point, or print it to read away from a screen.
Search the text for the scripture or idea you remember instead of scrubbing through the video.
Quote the exact words with their timestamp, in the language you watched it in.

Everything you need to know about SubGrab
SubGrab supports 30 platforms: YouTube (including Shorts), Facebook (videos & Reels), Instagram (Reels & video posts), X/Twitter, TikTok, Vimeo, Loom, LinkedIn, Dailymotion, Twitch (Clips & VODs), Wistia, Brightcove, Reddit, Rumble, Bilibili, SoundCloud, Kick, Apple Podcasts, Vidyard, Odysee, Niconico, CHZZK, SOOP (AfreecaTV), WeTV, Weibo, TED (talks & TEDx), Telegram (public channels), and JW.org — plus video and audio files shared from Google Drive and Dropbox. Just paste any video, audio, podcast, or file-share URL.
Every new account gets 2 free credits — no payment required. Each action costs 1 credit: extracting a transcript, AI transcription (up to 60 minutes per credit), or generating an AI summary. Your very first summary is also free, on top of the signup credits. After your free credits, credit packs start at $3.99 for 3 credits. Credits never expire.
SubGrab detects when captions are unavailable and offers AI transcription instead. AI transcription costs 1 credit for videos up to 60 minutes. Longer videos cost 1 credit per 60 minutes (e.g. a 2-hour video costs 2 credits). It works for any video with audible speech, across all 30 platforms.
Credits are used for every action: extracting captions (1 credit), AI transcription (1 credit per 60 minutes of video), or AI summary (1 credit). Every new account gets 2 free credits. Credit packs: 3 for $3.99, 10 for $5.99, 30 for $11.99, 80 for $22.99, or 200 for $44.99 (the Power pack is the best per-credit value at $0.22 each). Your first purchase includes bonus credits on every pack — for example the $11.99 Popular pack gives 40 credits (30 + 10 bonus) the first time. Credits never expire.
Yes, a free account is required. Signing up takes seconds via magic link email — no password needed. Every new account gets 2 free credits to get started, plus your first AI summary is free on top of that.
After extracting a transcript, SubGrab can generate a detailed AI summary: an overview, a chapter-by-chapter breakdown with timestamps covering the whole video, key takeaways, notable quotes, and the facts and figures mentioned. Detail scales with length — a 3-hour podcast gets a much deeper summary than a 60-second reel — and the summary is written in the video's own language. Summaries cost 1 credit, but your very first summary is free.
Our AI is 95% accurate on clear English speech and supports 90+ languages. Accuracy may vary depending on audio quality, background noise, and accents. For most videos with clear audio, you can expect near-perfect results.
Yes, on AI transcripts. When the AI hears more than one voice, it labels each turn Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on, in the transcript and in the TXT, SRT and VTT downloads. The labels are numbers, not names. In our tests they were right for 96–100% of the speech in two-person interviews and 79–94% in a four-person meeting, where people talk over each other. A transcript taken from a video's own captions has no speaker labels.
You can download transcripts in three formats: TXT (plain text), SRT (SubRip subtitle format), and VTT (WebVTT format). You can also copy the full transcript to your clipboard with one click.
Yes — your very first credit purchase includes bonus credits on every pack, applied automatically. For example: Micro gives 5 credits instead of 3, Starter 15 instead of 10, Popular 40 instead of 30, Pro 100 instead of 80, and Power 250 instead of 200. The bonus applies once, to your first pack only, and the credits never expire.
Hit 'Buy Credits' anywhere you see it — on the pricing page, the dashboard, the header, or from the in-app prompt that appears when you run out. Checkout is Stripe-hosted and every purchase is a one-time payment. Saving your card is optional: tick 'Save my payment information' at checkout and your next purchase is 1-click. A saved card is held by Stripe (we never see or store card numbers) and can be removed any time from the dashboard.
Yes. SubGrab uses Stripe (PCI Level 1, the highest payment-security standard) to handle all card data. Your card is tokenised by Stripe and the card number never touches our servers — we store only Stripe's references for your account and card, plus the card's brand and last four digits so we can show you which card is saved. A 1-click purchase charges that saved card when you press Buy, under the same fraud and 3-D Secure protections as your first purchase. If your bank asks you to confirm it, you finish on Stripe's checkout page. You can remove the saved card from your dashboard at any time.
If an extraction, AI transcription or summary fails, the credits it used go back to your balance automatically — you only pay for results. You can also cancel a credit pack within 14 days of buying it: email help@subgrab.com from your account's email address and we'll refund the paid credits from that pack you haven't used (bonus credits aren't refunded). After 14 days, purchases are final, including packs bought by mistake. If you were charged in error, for example twice for one purchase, email help@subgrab.com. The full policy is in section 6 of our Terms.
Yes. Your account, your credits, and your past transcripts are all still there — they don't expire and aren't deleted for inactivity. Just sign in with the same email you signed up with (magic link will arrive in seconds). If you've forgotten which email you used, write to help@subgrab.com from any address that might match.
Every marketing or product-update email we send carries an Unsubscribe link in the footer — one click unsubscribes you immediately. Gmail and Outlook also surface a built-in Unsubscribe button at the top of our messages. You'll still receive essential account emails (sign-in links, payment receipts, security notices) since you need those to use the product — there's no way to turn those off short of deleting your account, which you can do yourself from your dashboard.
Yes. SubGrab supports YouTube Shorts URLs. Paste a Shorts URL (youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID) and extract the transcript the same way as a regular YouTube video. Most Shorts have auto-captions that SubGrab can extract.
Yes! SubGrab supports Facebook videos, Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels, and Instagram video posts. Since these platforms don't offer transcript downloads, SubGrab uses AI to transcribe the audio. Just paste the video URL — the facebook.com/share/v/ and /share/r/ links the mobile app's share sheet copies both work, as do facebook.com/watch, facebook.com/reel, instagram.com/reel and fb.watch short links. The one thing that won't work is a video Facebook only shows to logged-in viewers: posts limited to friends or followers, and most group posts. Public videos are fine — if you can open the link in a private browsing window, we can read it.
Yes. Paste any tweet URL containing a video from x.com or twitter.com. SubGrab uses AI to transcribe the audio. This is especially useful for journalists and researchers who need exact quotes from video tweets.
Yes! Loom auto-generates transcripts but locks them inside the player — you can't copy or download them. SubGrab lets you extract a downloadable transcript from any Loom recording as TXT, SRT, or VTT. Paste any loom.com/share/ URL to get started.
Yes! SubGrab supports Twitch VODs up to 10 hours long. Since VODs don't have captions, our AI transcribes the audio directly. Credit cost is 1 credit per 60 minutes — so a 2-hour VOD costs 2 credits and an 8-hour stream costs 8. This is especially useful since Twitch broadcasts expire after 14 days — save the transcript before it's gone.
Videos and livestream VODs up to 10 hours are supported from a URL. Pricing is simple and per-hour: 1 credit covers up to 60 minutes, so a 45-minute lecture is 1 credit, a 2-hour VOD is 2, and an 8-hour stream is 8. You always see the exact credit cost and confirm it before anything is charged, and if the transcription fails the credits are refunded automatically. Uploaded files run up to 10 hours too: a recent Chrome or Edge compresses the audio on your computer before sending it, and a file over an hour shows its price for you to confirm first. In a browser that can't compress audio, uploads stop at about 50 minutes.
Yes. Paste a Kick VOD link (kick.com/channel/videos/...) or a clip link and SubGrab pulls the audio and transcribes it — Kick has no captions of its own. Kick VODs are whole unedited broadcasts, typically 6 to 8 hours, and those are supported: the limit is 10 hours, charged at 1 credit per hour. An AI summary on top is the fastest way to find the good moments in a stream that long.
Yes. SubGrab transcribes audio, not just video. Paste a public SoundCloud track or an Apple Podcasts episode link (the one with ?i= for a specific episode) and the AI turns the audio into a full, timestamped transcript. It's ideal for show notes, pulling exact quotes, and making long episodes searchable — and you can generate an AI summary to read an hour-long episode in a minute.
Yes. Set the file to 'Anyone with the link', copy the share link, and paste it into SubGrab — it reads the media straight from Google Drive or Dropbox and transcribes it with AI. No download and no re-upload. This is great for recorded meetings, lectures, voice memos, and raw footage that was never published to a video platform. Two different things can stop a link, and they need opposite responses: if the file isn't shared, set it to 'Anyone with the link' and it will work. But if you're told the file has hit Google's viewing limit for signed-out visitors, that's Google throttling a popular file — it isn't a problem with your sharing settings and changing them won't help. Wait a while and try again, or upload the file directly.
YouTube's built-in transcript is only accessible on desktop, cannot be downloaded, and isn't available when a video has no captions. SubGrab lets you download transcripts as files (TXT/SRT/VTT), works on 30 platforms, and can generate transcripts for videos without captions using AI.
We don't store video content. We only save the transcript text and basic video metadata (title, thumbnail). For AI transcription, the audio is held only while it is being transcribed, then deleted. No tracking cookies, no ads, and we never sell your data. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
No. Credits never expire. Buy once, use whenever you need them. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges — just one-time credit packs.
