SubGrab

How to Transcribe an X (Twitter) Space

Paste the link of a recorded X Space into SubGrab and get a timestamped transcript of the whole conversation. Live and unrecorded Spaces are refused before you pay.

Short answer

To transcribe an X Space, copy its link (x.com/i/spaces/ followed by a code), paste it into SubGrab and start the AI transcript. It works for Spaces the host recorded. The price comes from the Space's real length, 1 credit per started hour, and a live, unrecorded or deleted Space is refused before anything is charged.

X Spaces are live audio conversations — a host, a few speakers, sometimes thousands of listeners. When the host records one, X keeps a replay, and that replay is just audio: an hour or three of people talking, with no transcript, no search and no way to quote it without scrubbing through it.

SubGrab turns a recorded Space into text. Paste the link, confirm the price, and get the whole conversation as a timestamped transcript.

How to Transcribe an X Space

1. Copy the Space's link. In the X app, open the Space and tap Share → Copy link. On the web, the address bar shows it. It looks like x.com/i/spaces/1RezXPZQKVVOBJ — i/spaces/ and then a code. A twitter.com link, a /peek link and a link ending in ?s=20 all work too.

2. Paste it into SubGrab. We read the Space's title and length straight away, so the price you see is the real one.

3. Start the transcript. The audio is transcribed by AI (Whisper Large v3 Turbo) — 95% accurate on clear English speech, in 90+ languages, detected automatically.

4. Read, search or download it as TXT, SRT or VTT, with timestamps. You can also run an AI summary for the key points.

Which Spaces Work — and Which Don't

SpaceWhat happens
Ended, recorded by the hostTranscribed
Still liveRefused before charging: there's no finished recording yet. Paste the link again after it ends
Ended, not recordedRefused before charging: X keeps no replay, so there's no audio to transcribe
Scheduled, not startedRefused before charging: there's nothing to transcribe until it has happened
Deleted, or a mistyped linkRefused before charging: X can't find the Space

Every refusal comes before a credit is taken, so trying a Space you're unsure about costs nothing.

What It Costs

Spaces are long, so they are priced by length, the same as any other video: 1 credit per started hour. A 58-minute Space is 1 credit; a 2.5-hour one is 3. SubGrab reads the length from the Space itself before you confirm — you never pay for an hour that isn't there, and a long Space is never quoted as a short one. Spaces up to 10 hours are supported. Every new account gets 2 free credits, and credit packs never expire.

Accuracy on a Room Full of Speakers

The 95% figure is for clear English speech: one person speaking at a time, decent audio. A Space is often the opposite — people talking over each other, phone microphones, someone with a bad connection. Expect more errors on those stretches; on a benchmark of real meetings (AMI) our model gets about 86% of words right. Clean stretches — the host's introduction, a prepared talk — come out close to the 95%. See how accurate AI transcription really is for the full table.

Why Transcribe a Space at All

  • Quotes for reporting. Spaces are where founders, politicians and analysts say things off the cuff. A transcript lets you quote the exact words with a timestamp instead of paraphrasing a recording.
  • Searchable notes. A two-hour Space becomes a document you can search for the one segment you need.
  • Before it disappears. A replay lasts only as long as the host keeps it. If they delete it, the link stops working — a transcript doesn't.

A Note on New Space Links

In late October 2026 X lengthened its Space codes from 13 characters to 14, and tools built on the open-source downloader yt-dlp started answering "Twitter Space not found" for new Spaces (yt-dlp issue #17955). SubGrab reads both the old and the new codes. If another tool told you a Space you can open in X doesn't exist, that's probably why.

Frequently asked

Can I transcribe a Space that is still live?

Not yet. A live Space has no finished recording, so SubGrab tells you so before charging anything. Paste the link again after the Space ends, as long as the host recorded it.

Why does SubGrab say the Space has no replay?

The host didn't record it. X keeps a replay only when the host records the Space, so there is no audio for anyone to transcribe. Nothing is charged.

How much does a two-hour Space cost?

Two credits. SubGrab reads the Space's real length before you confirm and charges 1 credit per started hour, so a 58-minute Space is 1 credit and a 2.5-hour one is 3. Spaces up to 10 hours are supported.

Does it work with twitter.com Space links?

Yes. x.com and twitter.com links both work, including the /peek links X shares and links with a ?s= tracking code on the end.
