How to Get Transcripts from LinkedIn Video Posts
LinkedIn doesn't offer video transcripts. Use SubGrab to extract text from LinkedIn video posts, Lives, and native uploads for content repurposing and accessibility.
LinkedIn has gone all-in on video. Native video posts, LinkedIn Live streams, and short-form clips are dominating the feed. But there's one feature conspicuously absent: transcripts.
You can't read, copy, or download the spoken content from any LinkedIn video. If you need the text — for repurposing, quoting, accessibility, or archiving — you need an external tool.
Why LinkedIn Doesn't Provide Transcripts
LinkedIn auto-generates captions for some native video uploads, but these captions are:
- Burned into the video player — you can't select, copy, or download them
- Not available via API — no way to extract them programmatically
- Often inaccurate — especially for technical jargon, names, and industry terms
For LinkedIn Live recordings, there are often no captions at all.
How to Transcribe LinkedIn Videos
### Step 1: Copy the Video URL
Right-click the video post on LinkedIn and copy the post URL. It will look like:
linkedin.com/posts/username_activity-IDlinkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:ID
### Step 2: Paste into SubGrab
Go to subgrab.com and paste the URL. SubGrab will detect it as a LinkedIn video.
### Step 3: AI Transcription
Since LinkedIn doesn't expose extractable captions, SubGrab uses AI to transcribe the audio. This takes 30-90 seconds and produces a full transcript with timestamps.
### Step 4: Download or Copy
Download as TXT, SRT, or VTT. Or copy to clipboard for immediate use.
Use Cases
### Content Repurposing
You recorded a 3-minute LinkedIn video that performed well. Turn it into a written post, newsletter snippet, or blog article. The transcript gives you the raw text — just edit and publish.
### Thought Leadership Archives
Senior executives and thought leaders post video content regularly. Transcripts create a searchable archive of their public statements and insights.
### Sales Enablement
Your prospect posted a video about their company's challenges. Transcribe it to understand their pain points before your next call — without sitting through a 10-minute video.
### Competitive Intelligence
Monitor competitor LinkedIn videos for product announcements, messaging changes, and strategic hints. Text is faster to scan and analyze than video.
### Accessibility Compliance
Organizations posting video content on LinkedIn may need to provide text alternatives for accessibility compliance (WCAG, ADA). SubGrab generates the transcript you need.
Pricing
LinkedIn videos are AI-only (no extractable captions), so each transcription costs 1 credit. Every new SubGrab account gets 2 free credits. Credit packs start at $1.99 for 3 credits.
Tips
- Use the full post URL, not a shortened or shared link
- LinkedIn Live recordings work best when the audio is clear and has minimal background noise
- For very long LinkedIn Lives (1+ hours), credit cost scales with duration
